Reconciliation (Confession)

Origins of Reconciliation (Confession)

The Sacrament of forgiveness and reconciliation has been understood as originating on the evening of the first Easter. In St. ]ohn's Gospel the risen Jesus appeared to the disciples who were very much afraid, greeted them in peace, and commissioned them with these words:

"As the Father has sent me, so I send you... Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive mens sins, they are forgiven them; if you hold them bound, they are held bound. (John 20:21-23)

First Reconciliation

First Reconciliation is done in conjunction with the preparation for the other Sacraments (Eucharist & Confirmation).
